Thwing & Octon

Thwing is a small village located in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds, about eight miles from the North Sea coast. It is known for its rich history, with evidence of human activity dating back to the Neolithic era. The village features a 12th-century Norman church, All Saints', and a now closed pub which was intriguingly named "The Falling Stone," referencing a meteorite that fell nearby in 1795.
Octon, a hamlet associated with Thwing, is part of the same civil parish. The area is predominantly agricultural, with rolling fields and chalky soil ideal for farming. Octon is also home to the East Riding Crematorium, built in 1997.
