The long-established Tuesday night live music jam at the Anvil Arms in Wold Newton has been cancelled and replaced by a weekly dominoes event. This free music jam has been a cornerstone for budding musicians to experience live performance and has drawn both musicians and audiences from across the East Wolds. There is good news however, as the jam will continue to run at a new venue, The Old Star in Kilham.

History of the Event

The music jam originally began at the Falling Stone in Thwing and moved to the Anvil Arms when the Falling Stone closed a few years ago. Since then, it has flourished into a highly popular and well-attended event.

Over the years, the live music jam has provided a platform for many aspiring musicians to test their skills and perform in front of an enthusiastic audience. The event has contributed significantly to the local music scene, fostering a sense of community and musical collaboration.

Unfortunately, due to changing circumstances, the Anvil Arms decided to cancel the music jam. In its place, a dominoes event will be held, offering a different form of social gathering for the community. The jam night now moves to its new home at the Old Star, in Kilham.

Looking Ahead

Though the cancellation by the Anvil ended an era, organizers quickly and easily secured a new venue for the music jam. The Old Star in Kilham will now host and support East Wolds' musical talents. Same time, same format, new place.

Thank you for supporting live music. Whether you come along to play or to listen we hope to see you at The Old Star, Kilham for the Tuesday jam sessions which runs from 8:30pm.
